hello Everybody!
>From DarkReading, the security subsectoin of InformationWeek magazine, comes this interesting article about TOR. For those of us interested in Tor above and beyond its technical details (i.e. how to install) this is a good read how Tor is oft associated with hoodlums and all sorts of tenebrous shenanigans that take place on the Dark Web using Tor. If you look at the title of the article, it already tells you its slant. Well wot the heck, I'll provide the title to save you a click."Darknet Is Full Of Criminals & Governments Giving TOR A Bad Name"The article goes on to state how all sorts of horrible stuff goes on in there but it does state that Tor's also used in repressive regimes to bypass censors. Interestingly enough it talks about how even though the US Govt funds Tor research it also tries to "break" Tor in order to discover its users for its own nefarious purposes. Short worthwhile read. http://www.darkreading.com/analytics/darknet-is-full-of-criminals-and-governments-giving-tor-a-bad-name/d/d-id/1322211
On a related note, here's a link to a report from TrendMicro, a security vendor, on the DarkWeb. http://www.trendmicro.com/cloud-content/us/pdfs/security-intelligence/white-papers/wp_below_the_surface.pdf
Moreover, there's a corollary report from BatBlue, some security company, that gives a good overview of Tor and cryptocurrency. It has its own little neat infographic just for good measure! See links below.
