Id say wait on any plans for certification until more of us are experienced. Speaking of experience,i think it would be a good idea to cast some basic stock shapes like a rectangular aluminum plate for the next pour so we can get a feel for dimensional control and making molds. Thoughts?

I imagine if anyone announces they're doing one people would be happy to join. I saw a design once for an electric foundry as well...that might be worth researching at some point

I think after another demonstration pour, it would be a good idea to go over all the safety concerns, and make them part of the certification process. Beyond that, a pyrometer would be lovely.

Discussed briefly with Phil who very graciously agreed to put the foundry in its cubby later in the evening. Phil suggested that the foundry would be safe to store inside at 100 degrees, we talked about obtaining a pyrometer to test--Phil offered to bring this up at the weekly sshc meeting.

We can do more than one pour in a day, maybe it takes a number of pours to become eligible to operate the foundry, which has the benefit of being able to operate alone, lead a new group, etc. What do you think, Brady?

If so we could move to the hall close to the loading dock. IMO that's kind-of better, even, because it's easier to clean up an empty space. I think we can recondition the sand with water in a bathroom, e.g. that weird spraybooth on the first floor?
