Hiya,

Some notes slash food for thought on making patterns for casting.

As of now we have some expertise in sand casting, note that 3-D printed
patterns for sand casting have to have *draft*, i.e. have to be shaped in
such a way that you can extract them from the sand.

There's an art to making patterns for sand casting--indeed there's a
profession: when we're a little further along we should get Dan Meyer to a
FiG session and/or force-subscribe him to this list. This being said the
fundamentals are just to use draft when modeling, e.g. 5 degrees.

We'd like to develop some expertise in using plaster molds and "lost
wax"--have any of us done this kind of thing? https://youtu.be/UJT3kGbYjfI
