<div dir="ltr">hello All!</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">From our friends at PC Magazine by way of Extremetech, here are some good tips on safeguarding our privacy. </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Whilst some of the more advanced users in this group, will find this old stuff eg. Tor, TAILS, some of us may find new material. Me for one. Such as<b><font color="#008a17"> SECUREDROP</font></b>. See <a href="https://securedrop.org" target="_blank">https://securedrop.org</a> It's an open source platform for securely sending documents. Developed by the late Aaron Swartz and Kevin Poulson it's a crypto tool we can all embrace. This product was reviewed by renowned security guru, Bruce Shneier. </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">There's also mention of GNUPG which is the open source alternative to PGP. Whilst I personally haven't used it supposedly it's pretty tough thus a nice GUI user friendly version, GPG4Win, exists for users like me who detest command line. </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">As far as HD encryption is concerned we all lament the demise of TrueCrypt though allegedly the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) endorses TrueCrypt 7.1a. The good news is that there are forks which claim to offer the same HD encryption capabilities such as VeraCrypt and CipherShed. Of course there's MS's Bitlocker and Apple's Filevault. I've used none of these products so I can't speak. </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">If anyone has used any of the products mentioned in this article please share here. It'd be great to gain insight from real hands on use. </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Finally, as PC MAG said <font face="Comic Sans MS, sans-serif">"It's downright depressing that the only way to safeguard your own personal information these days it to turn your computer into a fortified silo."</font> So true.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Lemme know wot you think!</div><div dir="ltr">fyi</div><div dir="ltr">-Joe </div><div dir="ltr"><div><br></div><div><a href="http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/201636-snowden-approved-the-citizenfour-hackers-toolkit" target="_blank">http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/201636-snowden-approved-the-citizenfour-hackers-toolkit</a></div><div><br></div><div><div id="inlineImage0" style="display: inline-block"><script type="jsv#6414_"></script> <span contenteditable="true"> </span> <div style="display: inline-block" unselectable="on" contenteditable="false" class="inlineImage" initheight="265" initwidth="265"><img src="cid:inlineImage0" height="265" width="265"></div> <span contenteditable="true"> </span><script type="jsv/6414_"></script></div><br></div><div><br></div></div>
