Hello All
A lot of folks in this community don't like anything Microsoft for misgivings such as potential backdoors, eavesdropping, data collection (a la Google), junky products etc. Some of those same sentiments spill over to the Apple products such as being a closed ecosystem (think iTunes store) etc. In fact for the Linux folks both are disliked for not being free, not being open source so on and so forth.
Well it appears that Apple's CEO, Mr Tim Cook, is actually on the side of privacy and against govt snooping. Recently Mr Cook lashed out against a UK proposed bill, the Investigatory Powers Bill, that calls for weakened encryption and introduction of backdoors into communication products. His belief is - and I share this belief - that it can lead to privacy breaches and security issues. Think of other state sponsored hackers or even sophisticated terrorist groups exploiting these very same backdoors. Read the article for yourself here: http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/618328/Snooping-Laws-UK-Investigatory-Powers-Bill-Apple-CEO-Tim-Cook
Wot do you think? Think he has a point?
Share please.-Joe
